MELOCHEVILLE A CARLISLE
We will leave Dec. 26 or as soon as the weather will be favorable after Christmas. We need a window of 24 hours without precipitation between Montreal and Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
I use the website below to explore the weather forecast and decide. http://www.weather.com/maps/geography/northeastus/northeastusprecipforecast_large.html?clip=undefined ® ion = undefined & & collection = localwxforecast presname = undefined
I realized during the last two weeks there is often heavy rainfall at the eastern end of Lake Ontario. The highway that runs through Syracuse US81 passes in the middle of these rain fade, however, that approaching U.S. Highway 87 at the height of Montreal. So we will decide at the last minute if we take the route 81 which passes through Syracuse or 87 which passes through Albany, NY.
The trip along Highway 87 is longer by about 50 miles which is not a major difference. Leaving Montreal at 7 am we will be in Carlisle in the late afternoon. Once in Carlisle, the temperature is still cold but there should be more snowfall between Carlisle and Nashville. We stop at the Flying J Carlisle for the night. We will
leave with the water tank dry and remove water bottles Inside the motorhome. We will fill the tank in Nashville. The Flying J leases showers for truckers and travelers for about $ 8.00US.
The distance between Carlisle and Nashville is 700 miles. It can cover in one day but it is not necessary because we are not really in a hurry. Then we will decide in the next road we travel far.
