OUR NEW MOTORIZED

When we bought our motor 4 years ago, our camping experience was limited to a few purposes week under canvas in the sixties. Not knowing if we were going to love this kind of activity, we opted for a motorized aged 5 years because the depreciation of these vehicles is very high during this period and we wanted to minimize our losses if the experience was negative.

After 3 summers full time in the motorhome and experience of our trip this winter we dream of making several trips in the American Southwest during the next 5 years and we have decided to invest a new motor. Our Master Cruiser 35 2001 was very comfortable and we were very pleased with his behavior on the road but it is now 9 years old and displays 80.000 km on the odometer.

Our objective was:

1) Buy the most recent possible with very little mileage while meeting our budget.
2) Use this time to give us a vehicle more upscale and better equipped than our Cruise Master.

Even if I would have preferred a Diesel Pusher, reason won out over passion because they are much more expensive than those equipped with a gasoline engine and does not meet our criterion # 1 . The diesel motor also with a reputation for being expensive to maintain as they age.

We chose a National Dolphin LX 2007 with only 25.000 km on the odometer. The Dolphin is a motorized gas engine with high-end manufacturing and equipment are approaching many of Pusher. Here is the list of improvements it makes in relation to our Cruise Master 2001 and other motorized less upscale.

- Made of steel rather than wood or aluminum.

- Superior insulation and double windows. Heated tanks.

- Roof fiber membrane rather than leather. No maintenance and no water leakage.

- Painting complete with 3 colors. No bands (stripes) glued.

- Windshield one piece rather than two pieces.

- Mag Wheels Alcoa of 22.5 inches instead of 19.5 and disc brakes with 4-wheel ABS. Michelin tires.

- Central air conditioning with heat pump instead of two units on the roof. Much more effective and more silent and hold both offices simultaneously heating and air conditioning (there is also a propane furnace 35,000 BTU)

Generator - Onan Marquis Gold closed, instead of 7000 watts to 5000 watts .

- electric patio awning with remote control and detector vibration that makes it fall back automatically.

- 4 6 volt batteries with 440 amp reserve mounted drawer with a charger / inverter XANTREX 100 amps and 2000 watts.

- kitchen counter and bathroom in Korean.

- Driver's seat electric 6 commands.

- Woodwork and interior finish better.

- Integrated Home Theater magazine and radio with CD player 10.

- The wiring is already in place to add solar panels as needed.

- Refrigerator size house has 4 doors.

- electric sun visor covering the entire windshield.

Ford V10 engine is newer and develops 360 forces instead of 310 which allows, combined with a transmission more modern, better gear ratios, which should result in better average fuel consumption. Frankly, we do not really expect it.
